She then tries her paw at visiting a nursing home, donning butterfly wings for charity, and winning back squirrel surveillance privileges by making Valentine’s Day paw print cards for elderly folks. This is what I’d call a real book-- "a book just like us." It's impossible to read the introduction and not be hooked instantly. Michelle Jansick has captured and put an amazingly realistic voice to Chipper and Chipper's thoughts. Chipper's compassion and meaningful contribution to society comes with lots of laughs, mishaps, adventures and good ol' downhome fun… which makes it an excellent read for kids from 5 to 105. I took a copy up to visit my grandkids and read aloud a couple chapters at a time. Sometimes only an hour after reading the kids were begging for another installment of Chipper's inspiring story. I felt great about the fact that they were learning important life lessons in a humorous yet realistic way. I also took it on a beach vacation recently and laughed aloud so many times that folks kept approaching me to inquire about what I was reading that was so entertaining. Sometimes I just had to share excerpts with the folks around me which turned my blanket into the daily party place. It is well written, inspirational and expressed in a wholesome comical way.

Previous customer reviews is what led me to buy this book. Yes, it is written like it’s the dog talking and very, very well done. Yes, it is written so that it is very easy for a child to read, too. The other comments said that an adult would enjoy it and there were laugh-out-loud segments. Since I am an animal lover - especially dogs and horses- I just had to try the book! I have read comments before about how some books make you laugh out loud, but I never experienced that. A smile or inner chuckle, yeah, but this book definitely made me laugh out loud on certain parts (neighbors must now think I have finally and totally flipped)! I loved the book. I love Chipper! This book is now part of my library of books on animals - especially rescued ones! Thanks, Michelle Jansick, for writing a funny book that FINALLY made me laugh out loud!
